This autogenous process employs the laser to “fuse” metals together in a very localised area and remove the requirement for filler wire. As we are focussing on a very small are to heat up weld this gives a big advantage of very little heat being put in the parts reducing distortion of the part to a minimum. We use this technology/manufacturing process across a range of industries where this is the preferred method following extensive development trials with the customer. We are able to compliment this process by cutting lids and other profiles in house to match the component to be welded. Extra processes such as machining can be done to effectively “hide” the weld. Although filler wire is not currently used within this process, we are developing a means of feeding filler wire to allow larger components to be laser welded in the future.
